[takes sip of black coffee] yeah, i’m writing a really unique character for my novel. yeah, it’s a pasty white, angsty young woman who likes to read rather than hang out with people and comes up with witty and snarky remarks a lot. honestly, i’m surprised that nobody’s ever…

There’s not a single good argument for cutting food stamps. The vast majority of recipients are children, elderly, disabled, or working poor. Food stamps are not only a moral necessity, they’re good for the economy: they’re #1 on the list of what economists call “automatic stabilizers,” so more than every cent the government puts into them comes back in stimulus.
No, what’s really underpinning this “debate” being pushed by conservatives (Republicans) is a huge lie: that black people are taking all your money. Which is ridiculous, because if they were, they wouldn’t be disproportionately poor and hungry. And also, of course, a lot more of the 16.6 million households on food stamps are white (48%) than black (26%) or Hispanic (21%).
when people say “some people dont deserve food stamps” what they mean is “you’re not good enough to even have basic necessities such as food and water and deserve to die.”
i hate that novels and movies and stories in general are romanticizing this idea of eccentric, deep thinking, black coffee drinking, ditch-all-your-social-occasions-to-read-because-you’re-smarter-than-the-inferior-masses, snarky and witty people as the most desirable and that everyone should be like them
you know what we call these people in real life?

Waitress Finds ‘None, N****r’ Written As Her Tip From Racist Customers (IMAGE)
19-year-old nursing school student Toni Christina Jenkins works at a Red Lobster in Nashville, Tennessee to earn a living. Working in the food services sector isn’t an easy job. Sometimes waitresses have difficult customers and sometimes they have awesome customers. But what Jenkins wasn’t expecting was to be targeted by racists.
According to her interview with the Daily Mail, Jenkins had to put up with a couple of rude customers. She, of course, did her job with outstanding professionalism. She was polite, took their order, and gave them the receipt so that they could pay for their food and leave a tip if they so chose.
However, instead of leaving a couple dollars or just leaving the section blank like most civilized customers do, this duo decided to expose their racism and promptly scribbled ‘None, N****r’ as her tip.
“I don’t get tips all the time. I really don’t care cause God is my provider I don’t worry about tips,” Jenkins told the London paper.
“They were extremely rude, but I introduced myself to them and they didn’t respond. When I came to take their order, they simply told me they wanted their food and to put everything in a to-go box. I offered them dessert but they told me abruptly that they just wanted the check. When I went back to the table they had gone and left the receipt and had written the comments. It’s all very surprising to me.”
Shocked, Jenkins took a photo of the receipt and the offensive message written on it and posted it on her Facebook page. She urged her friends to share it so that it would create awareness. Of the receipt, Jenkins wrote:
“This is what I got as a tip last night … so happy to live in the proud southern states … God Bless America, land of the free and home of the low class racists of Tennessee.”
Here’s an image of the receipt:

And then these are the same pieces of shit who will claim black Americans don’t work for what they have and just “sponge off of the system”. This woman IS working and yet here is the treatment she gets from white America represented in one photo.
